5 months agoThe ACT test consists of four multiple-choice sections (English, Math, Reading, and Science), and an optional Writing section. Here's the breakdown of time for each section:
1. English: 45 minutes, 75 questions
2. Math: 60 minutes, 60 questions
3. Reading: 35 minutes, 40 questions
4. Science: 35 minutes, 40 questions
5. Optional Writing: 40 minutes, 1 essay
The total time for the four required sections is 175 minutes (2 hours and 55 minutes). If you also choose to take the optional Writing section, the total testing time will be 215 minutes (3 hours and 35 minutes).
In addition to the actual testing time, there will be a few short breaks included during the test. There is typically a 15-minute break after the Math section, and if you're taking the optional Writing section, there may be an additional 5-minute break before beginning that section. You should also account for the time spent on administrative tasks, such as checking in and distributing materials, which can take around 30 minutes.
Considering all these factors, you can expect the entire testing experience to last approximately 4 to 4.5 hours.
